Malachite

Its name seems to derive from the Greek 'malache', meaning mallow, and thus refers to the colour of the leaves of this beneficial plant.

The stone, like the plant from which it takes its name, has always been associated with the protective and strengthening properties of its owner.

In jewellery, its colours, ranging from dark green to shiny light green, are valorised by cutting the raw material with a suitable cut.

"I chose to use malachite because, in combination with faceted rock crystal, it allowed us to achieve a crystal clear, vibrant and bold green just like a precious gemstone."
